What are the aims of this programme?

The main aims of this programme are to:

  1. encourage young people to lead projects  that will impact their community positively
  2. enable young people to become project leaders
  3. develop themselves and others
  4. engage the young people in the civil society

What will I learn after completing this programme?

After completing the session, you will learn:

  1. significance of youth leadership
  2. how to evaluate your own practice and what needs to be done to improve further
  3. the necessary skills needed to be an effective youth leader
  4. the necessary skills and knowledge about how to engage in the civil society
  5. how to become a reflective youth leader

Who can apply?

This is open to young people interested in developing their leadership capabilities. This programme is open to young people aged 16 – 21 years old

What’s involved?

Young people are invited to submit a project initiation document focusing on an issue in their local area to the Nida Trust. The Trust will then evaluate all the project documents before deciding on two winning projects. Nida Trust will then provide funding and mentoring support to these projects to ensure its successful delivery.

Duration

Three months. The project must be completed in 3 months.

  1. enable young people to develop core leadership skills
  2. make the young people understand the importance of effective teamwork
  3. develop key skills for effective project management

What will I learn after completing this programme?

After completing the session, you will learn:

  1. about the core skills of leadership
  2. the necessary skills needed to be an effective youth leader
  3. how to become a reflective youth leader and manage a project effectively

Who can apply?

This is open to young people interested in developing their leadership capabilities. This programme is open to young people aged 18 – 25 years old

What’s involved?

In this programme the young people will take part in a number of activities that will help them to develop core leadership and project management skills. As part of this project the participants will work in teams to develop a project idea which they will then present to a panel of judges. The project must focus on a local issue that they want to improve. The winning team will receive a prize.

What are the aims of this programme?

The main aims of this programme are to:

  1. improve the reading skills of young people
  2. create awareness of the importance of reading and how it impacts on achievement
  3. unable young people to access the curriculum more easily
  4. increase the life opportunities for the young people

How will the young people benefit from this programme?

After completing this programme, the young people will be:

  1. better readers
  2. motivated to read more
  3. able to express their views and thoughts more clearly
  4. more confident in participating in classroom discussions
  5. able to use a large range of vocabularies when doing a presentation or producing a written piece of work

What’s involved?

This programme is targeted at students in Key stage 1 and 2. Nida Trust will work closely with different primary and supplementary schools to deliver this programme. Nida Trust will provide volunteers/mentors to selected schools once a week for an hour. The volunteer will work with a selected number of students to raise their literacy. The mentor will support them with reading and literacy work in lessons.

Primary  and supplementary schools.

Duration

This programme will last for a term. The volunteers will visit the school once a week for an hour.

What are the aims of this programme?

The main aims of this programme are to:

  1. create awareness of the importance of higher education
  2. promote access to higher education
  3. raise the number of young people from the disadvantaged background to continue with their education
  4. increase the life opportunities for the young people

What will I learn after completing the programme?

After completing the session, you will learn:

  1. why going to higher education is important
  2. how to access higher education
  3. what you need to do now to progress into higher education
  4. about the opportunities when you progress to higher education
  5. about the student life when you progress to higher education

Who can apply?

Any institution working with young people. This programme can be tailor made to cater for different age groups.

What’s involved?

This programme is delivered in partnership with various universities. Student ambassadors from different universities are used to deliver various sessions. Typically, each session will last for 2 hours. Each session is delivered in an interactive manner using active teaching strategies. In a session, students will take part in group activities, watch videos, presentations, etc.

Students who go through our programme will get the chance to visit one of our partner universities where they will get the chance have a tour of the university and take part in various activities to promote the significance of higher education.

Length of this programme will vary depending on the needs of the school. Typically, each session will last for 2 hours

What are the aims of this programme?

  1. create awareness of the importance of effective youth leadership
  2. promote value of youth leadership in the community
  3. equip the young people with key leadership skills
  4. enable young people to engage in the civil society effectively to bring about a positive change

After completing the session, you will learn:

  1. how effective youth leadership  is essential in today’s society
  2. how to evaluate your own practice and what needs to be done to improve further
  3. the necessary skills needed to be an effective youth leader
  4. the necessary skills and knowledge about how to engage in the civil society

Who can apply?

Any institution working with young people or any young person interested in developing their leadership capabilities. This programme is open to young people aged 14 – 18 years old

What’s involved?

This programme is delivered in an interactive manner using modern teaching methodologies. The participants will take part in a range of workshops covering some of these topics:

  • Effective leadership
  • Express yourself
  • Conflict resolution
  • Motivation
  • Influencing others
  • Developing an effective campaign

Participants will be required to work in teams, do presentations and engage in various practical activities. Students will be given homework end of each session which they will be required to present in the following sessions.

Duration

This is a 6 weeks programme with each session lasting for 3 hours.

  2. facilitate the personal development of young people in equipping them with leadership skills such as communication and teamwork
  3. promote awareness of global issues and current affairs
  4. encourage ambition and provide guidance on achieving goals
  5. create an atmosphere which is engaging, beneficial and interactive for participants

This conference is open to young people interested in developing their leadership capabilities. This programme is open to young people aged 16 – 25 years old

What’s involved?

This conference will combine lectures, workshops, debates and question and answer sessions to ensure that the participants are fully engaged in the event. Participants will work in groups, provide presentations and engage in discussing issues related to global and current affairs and what they can do to make a positive contribution to improve the situation.
