Youth Development

Our Youth development team have the following projects in progress:

The future of a nation is its youth. In today’s world they are faced with many challenges such as drugs, lack of role models, crime etc. It is therefore, essential to focus on developing our future by investing in the development of our youth.

Nida Trust will provide targeted projects to provide opportunities for the youth to develop and enhance their skills for the betterment of the local community and humanity at large. As a Trust, our aim is to:

  • Provide projects that will tackle some of the social ills that have engulfed our communities such as drugs, anti social behaviour, territorial conflicts, gang warfare, teenage pregnancy, youth crime, etc.
  • Make good role models as mentors for the youngsters.
  • Provide physical activities to enable them to stay away from streets and taking part in any anti- social behaviour.
  • Provide leadership training for them to lead their respective communities in the future.
  • Organise youth conferences to make people aware of different issues confronting the youth of today.
  • Raise awareness about leadership issues.

4. Meet your leader

One of the major issues cited by the youth of today is that their elders, who are the leaders of their community, do not listen to them. This is due to a lack of communication and understanding between the youth and their elders. The blame does not solely lay on one party or the other; however, a compromise needs to be reached between the two for the betterment of the community at large.

The proposed Meet your leader Project is aimed at bridging the gap between young people and their community leaders. It aims to achieve this by highlighting the role of leadership in a community, the work that is carried out by leaders of a community, a company and even in politics. It also aims to describe the qualities that make a good leader from the perspective of young people, and to help young people develop their leadership skills.

As a result, what is envisaged is that by the end of the Project, young people will be in a position to understand the role of leaders, and they would have been given the confidence to pursue positions of leadership to implement their unique leadership skills and styles. The project aims to give young people the necessary information and guidance to understand the role of leaders, how to become a good leader and how to avoid the same grievances they have from being repeated to others.
