The diagram (click here) illustrates what we are trying to achieve. Our work is encompassed by three key concepts; Awareness, Development & Partnership. Through awareness projects we wish to bring forth pressing issues that affect different communities, particularly the Muslim ethnic minority communities. These issues may include pupil educational underachievement, drugs, prostitution, alcohol problems, etc. It is therefore vital for us to establish developmental projects at a micro level to address these issues. These projects should be delivered in partnership with voluntary and statutory organisations in order to achieve our vision of “Calling Communities Together”. Underpinning all of this are our core values (click here).
Nida Trust aims to advance education for those communities who are underachieving. By doing this, the Trust will enable people from disadvantaged communities, particularly the Muslim communities, to have better prospects in life. Research continues to indicate that people with good education have a longer life span than those without.
Racial & Religious harmony is crucial in Britain today. We recognize that the UK receives people from all over the world, particularly London. In order to ensure harmonious environment, it seems imperative that we take proactive steps to learn about other people’s faith, culture, etc. This helps to remove ignorance about other people and at the same time create a more educated and learned communities. Nida Trust will organize projects to promote Racial & Religious harmony in the community. This should reduce the number of faith and race related incidents.
In the UK, data shows that Bangladeshi, Pakistani and the Working White class have some of the worst health issues. The Bangladeshi community, for instance, suffer from health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. They also live in some of the most deprived areas in Britain. We, at Nida Trust, believe that are addressing these issues in partnership with various statutory organizations.
Advancing education and promoting health, racial and religious harmony helps to create a more cohesive and confident community. This will in turn assist to develop better citizens.
